Summary: Collection consists of photocopies of Helen N. and Walter D. Carroll's written works of their memories of life in the San Luis Valley and the effect of the railroad on their lives in the latter part of the 19th century (1940-1950). Included are a poem recounting the history of the San Luis Valley and an autobiographical story entitled "Pioneer Story" both by Helen N. Carroll (1950) and an autobiographical essay by Walter D. Carroll. Also included is a descriptive essay on Antonito, Colorado by Pat Joyce (a friend of the Carrolls) and a letter describing an 1883-84 railroad trip in the San Luis Valley.
